How can YOU be involved in COW?

MEMBER
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY LEADER

Cow is open to all students regardless of grade level or GPA. To be considered a COW member you must:

1. Attend 8 of the 10 meetings

2. Pay $15 yearly dues

3. Earn 10 volunteer hours per semester (20 total) through COW

You will NOT recieve any credit for hours you have earned until you have paid your dues. At this point, all hours you earned before paying your dues will be awarded to you. 

Being a leader for a volunteering opportunity is a simple way to earn leadership hours! You will be able to sign up for the chance to be a leader on the monthly sign up documents. Officers will choose members with good standing in COW to be leaders while trying to give everyone the chance to be a leader. Leaders are expected to:

1. Pass on all information regarding the volunteering opportunity to other volunteers

2. Help arrange carpools to and from events or make sure everyone has a ride.

3. Report attendance on a volunteer sign in sheet and get a volunteering coordinator to sign off on the sheet. 

4. Email the COW officers attendance immediately after the event and turn in the sign in sheet. 

COW OFFICER 

COW is run and lead by student officers! There are multiple different officer positions to accomidate the different jobs that need to be done. You can see who COW's current officers are under the Officer page. 

 

The specific officer positions are listed below. 

COW Secretary

This position on COW's team of officers was newly introduced in the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. Although it is a one-year position, the previous Secretary may reapply and get reelected. Some of the roles of a COW Secretary are: 

  1. Input all sign-ups, hours, meeting attendance, dues, donation items, new member info on google docs.

  2. Keep track volunteer hours of members

  3. Collect sign-in sheets from opportunity leaders and log hours.

Vice President
Publications & Media Officer

This position on COW's team of officers was newly introduced in the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. Although it is a one-year position, the previous Publications and Media Officer may reapply and get reelected. Some of the roles of a COW Publications and Media Officer are: 

         1. Keep the COW bulletin board up-to-date.

         2. Make flyers for meetings, fundraisers, etc.

         3. Manage the social media accounts.

         4. Manage and update the website.

 

President 
(Or CO-President)

The position of COW Vice President was introduced for the 2014-2015 school year. The position is currently kept for as long as the current officer remains in COW or at West. After the officer leaves their position, the current COW officer board will choose a new Vice President from applications. Some of the current responsibilities for the COW Vice President include:

     1. Finding and arranging monthly volunteer opportunities

     2. Helping organize long term COW projects such as fundraisers

     3. Contacting Volunteer Opportunity Leaders with information about the volunteering opportunity

     4. Setting up monthly volunteer opportunity sign ups for both in meeting sign ups and on-line sign ups. 

     5. Running COW monthly meetings

The position of COW President (or CO-Presidents) has been around from the start of COW. The position is currently kept for as long as the current officer/s remains in COW or at West. After the officer leaves their position, the current COW officer board will choose a new President from applications. Some of the current responsibilities of the COW President/CO-Presidents include:

    1. Finding and arranging montly volunteering opportunities.

    2. Organizing long term COW projects such as fundraisers

    3. Managing the COW email account by sending updates to COW members, Parkway Staff, and volunteer coordinators

    4. Contacting volunteer coordinators about volunteering opportunities

    5. Overseeing all other officers and COW daily business.

    6. Running COW monthly meetings

Intern

Interns may be chosen in the fall or spring semesters of a school year! This person/these people will be guaranteed a position on the COW officer board in the Fall. Being an assistant counts as a leadership position, but you will be doing more of behind the scenes work for the officers while learning the ropes of what the officers do.  Interns are expected to:

1. Attend all of the COW officer meetings

2. Help manage paperwork and other behind the scenes work for the COW officers

3. Help with other tasks
